About Our Club
On February 16, 1966, sixty-one years following the formation of the very first Rotary Club, twenty-seven residents from the Essex area, under the sponsorship of the Rotary Club of Burlington, applied for membership to Rotary International. The Rotary Club of Essex was then fully chartered on April 13, 1966, as one of several clubs that make up Rotary District 7850, comprising the Northern parts of Vermont, New Hampshire, and a region of Quebec, Canada. The Essex Rotary Club celebrated the 50th anniversary of its founding in April of 2016.
At the beginning of its charter, the Club's membership region included the Towns of Essex, Essex Junction, Westford, Jericho, Underhill, Williston, Bolton, and Huntington. Since its inception, members of the Club helped to launch the Rotary Club of Grand Isle in 1989, and the Rotary Club of Williston-Richmond in 1995. The current club region includes the City of Essex Junction and the Towns of Essex, Westford, Jericho, and Underhill.
With an annual membership of approximately 60, the Rotary Club of Essex comprises a vibrant and active group of local volunteers involved in bettering local, national, and international communities with respect to justice, food and housing security, education and the environment.
