"Talk Saves Lives" - new initiative of American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
Mar. 18, 2026 12:10 p.m.
Our own Tim Gendron has been a long time advocate for intervention associated with suicide. As many Club members know, this issue has tragically impacted club members and has been an issue in the Essex area over the years. We are so lucky to have Tim's willingness to bring this educational opportunity to Essex Rotary. Below is Tim's description of the presentation.
We are scheduled to give a presentation on Talk Saves Lives, a new initiative for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention or AFSP. This is an introduction to Suicide Prevention as an educational tool for the audience. Sally Hespe from Weston, VT, near Manchester, is the Area Director for the Vermont Chapter of AFSP. She is a trained presenter of the material and I will be shadowing her since I am not fully trained in the matter. This will mostly be a concise overview of a larger presentation so it will be paired down to about 30 minutes.
