Meeting Recap
Greetings fellow Rotarians! Today we held our annual Essex Rotary Scholarship Luncheon. As many of you know, our Club awards six $1,000.00 scholarships to high school students from Mount Mansfield High School, Essex High School and the Center for Technology who exemplify the Rotary motto of “service above self”. This year’s recipients were Olivia Honigman and Kathleen Seay from Mount Mansfield Union; Kate Maguire and Jessica Girardin from Essex High School; and Anna Giannuzzi and Brian Nadeau from the Center for Technology. We also had the chance to recognize this year’s recipient of the $2,000.00 Carolyn Barra Scholarship. This annual award is given out in memory of Carolyn Barra, a talented Essex High School student who passed away unexpectedly of Pulmonary Hypertension Disorder in 2002. Each year, this scholarship is presented to a student who is in the top 15% of his or her class, actively participates in the performing arts and actively participates in community service. This year’s scholarship was awarded to Ciara Ertle from Essex High School. Congratulations to all of this year’s scholarship recipients! A special thank you goes out to Scholarship Committee Chair, Dave Barra and the rest of the scholarship committee for coordinating the selection process and the luncheon itself.
Golf Tournament
We are now in the final stretch for sponsors! Heather Lemon reported that we are currently 10 hole sponsors and 25 cart sponsors shy of last year’s totals, so we really need to push hard to get those sponsors signed up! If you haven’t done so already, please contact the sponsor that was assigned to you or any other businesses that might have an interest in sponsorship. As we have mentioned before, this is our biggest fundraiser, so every sponsorship dollar helps!
Essex Rotary Changeover Dinner
This year’s changeover dinner will coincide with our Club’s Family Day. This event will be held at Chapin Orchards on Saturday, June 29th starting at 4:00pm. You are encouraged to bring your family members to not only enjoy an evening at the orchard, but to witness the changeover and participate in the annual auction. More details about this event will follow in upcoming weeks.
