Meeting Recap

Greetings fellow Rotarians!  Our speaker today was Ed Fitzgerald, Director of Marketing and Sales for Vermont Rail System.   This entity, otherwise known as VRS, is comprised of five (5) regional railroads that have been consolidated into one rail system.  This short line system currently provides passenger and freight services throughout all of Vermont and parts of New York and New Hampshire.  In recognition of its success, VRS was named the 2012 short line rail system of the year by Rail Age magazine.  Mr. Fitzgerald explained the importance of short line rail systems to our economy and he discussed how they provide more economical and energy efficient means of transporting freight across the region than trucking or other types of transportation.  For more information about VRS, please visit its website at: http://www.vermontrailway.com/index.html

Golf Tournament

The golf tournament is now less than a month away!  Heather Lemon reported that the push for more sponsors has been successful as the committee received several new sponsorship checks in the past week.  It’s not too late, however, to secure even more sponsors.  If you haven’t done so already, please contact the sponsor that was assigned to you or any other businesses that might have an interest in sponsorship. As we have mentioned before, this is our biggest fundraiser, so every sponsorship dollar helps!

District Changeover

The District 7850 Changeover event is scheduled for Thursday evening on June 6th at the Shelburne Coach Barn in Shelburne, Vermont.  The incoming District Governor and the new board will be introduced at this event.
