Meeting Recap

Greetings fellow Rotarians! We kicked off a busy meeting with four Paul Harris presentations.  Both Skip Oliver and Tim Shea were recognized as Paul Harris Fellows for their donations of $1,000.00 each to the Rotary Foundation.  In recognition of donating $5,000.00 to the Rotary Foundation, Michael and Nancy LeBoeuf each attained Paul Harris Plus Four status.  Thank you to Skip, Tim, Mike and Nancy for your generous support of the Foundation!  We then moved on to the Club Round of the Rotary District Speech Contest.  Essex High School students Michael Lemieux and Fatima Khan each delivered a speech about how Rotary connects to their world.  Both speakers did an amazing job as they eloquently made their points.  Ultimately, the judges awarded the victory to Fatima Khan.  In addition to winning $100.00, Fatima will compete in the next round of the contest against other area students. Congratulations to both Michael and Fatima on jobs well done!  We concluded the meeting with a classification talk from one of our newer members, Patrick Murray.  Patrick shared how his many experiences (ranging from working on a fishing boat out of Rhode Island as a youth to producing and writing for Nightmare Vermont) have led him to his dedication to serving the community and joining our Club.  Thank you to Patrick for giving us the opportunity to get to know you a bit better!

Committee Meeting Dates

The Board has picked the following dates as Committee Meeting dates for the remainder of the Rotary year: March 4th; April 8th; May 6th; June 3rd.  Starting in July, we will go back to our regular schedule of holding Committee Meetings on the fourth Wednesday of each month.

Rotary Hockey Classic

Preparations are well under way for the annual Rotary All-Star Hockey Classic.  Each year our Club puts on two All-Star Hockey games (a men’s game and a women’s game) which feature the best high school senior hockey players in the state. In addition to being a great showcase for these exceptional young athletes, this event is also our Club’s second largest fundraiser.  With that in mind, this event needs all of the support it can get.  This year’s event is scheduled for Saturday, March 21st at the Essex Skating Facility.

Upcoming Meeting Schedule:  Wednesday, February 12, 2020 – We will be holding our annual Service Above Self  Dinner at The Essex starting at 5:30pm. There is still time for members to buy tickets to what will undoubtedly be a special and memorable celebration of service. Rotarians who haven’t signed up yet may do so using the following link:
