Greetings fellow Rotarians! Mother Nature once again cooperated with the Rotary Club of Essex as we enjoyed a relaxing Changeover Barbeque in perfect summer weather. Tonight we recognized our outgoing Board of Directors as well as several other Rotarians for their hard work during this past Rotary year. President Trish Porter started things off by thanking this year’s Board members, committee chairs and individuals who help make the Club run smoothly.  She then presented the Rookie of the Year Award to Penny Klein in recognition of her dedicated service to the Club in her first year as a member.  She then announced that Max Levy had earned the distinction as this year’s Rotarian of the Year based on both his work with the Club and his work in the community at large.  Our Unsung Hero of the year is Edith Klimoski.  In addition to chairing the International Committee, Edith dedicates a significant amount of time and energy into facilitating our Club’s Rotary Exchange program and making sure our exchange students have everything they need to enjoy a successful year in our community. Trish then presented the President’s Choice award to Sharon Dettenreider.  As many of you know, Sharon is one of those Rotarians who graciously volunteers at every event and coordinates our efforts at the Heavenly Pantry Food Shelf.  Congratulations to all of the award recipients on honors well-deserved! The ceremonies were then turned over to incoming President, Andy Love.  Andy presented Trish with a gift in recognition of her service this year and then introduced the Board of Directors for 2018-2019. Thank you very much to Trish and all of the Rotarians who made this past year such a huge success and thank you to Andy and the rest of the Board members for stepping up to lead us into the 2018-2019 Rotary year!

 

 

            If you haven’t paid your 2018-2019 Rotary Dues yet, please do so immediately.  If, however, you do not intend to renew your membership, please let our Board of Directors know. Dues may be paid online, or in person, but they must be paid by June 29^th at the latest.  Any members who do not remit payment of their dues by that date will be dropped from our Club’s roster. 

 

 

            The next opportunities to volunteer will be on Monday, July 9th at 5:15pm; Thursday, July 26th at 6:15pm; Monday, August 13th at 5:15pm; Thursday, August 23rd at 3:30pm; Monday, September 10th at 5:15pm; and Thursday, September 27th at 3:30pm. Please let Sharon Dettenrieder know if you are able to fill any of these shifts.

 

Upcoming Meeting Schedule:  Wednesday, June 27, 2018 – We will be holding final committee meetings of the Rotary year.  Committee chairs are asked to please be prepared to present a summary of the funds you spent and the projects your committees supported this year.
