Greetings fellow Rotarians! Our speakers today were Essex Community Development Director, Dana Hanley and Essex Town Planner, Darren Schibler.  Both were on hand to discuss the overall vision for developing the area known as Essex Center.  The Town envisions a development scheme that focuses on connectivity and cohesion. Rather than having a hodge-podge of different, disconnected neighborhoods and developments, the Town would like to see each development connected to one another.  In order to accomplish this goal, the Town will promote development in that area that flows better from both a structural and an aesthetic standpoint.  Darren Schibler suggested that the proposed development of the Essex Shoppes and the Essex Cinema fits nicely within the Town’s vision for Essex Center.  For more information on the Town’s plans, please visit the following link: https://www.essex.org/index.asp?SEC=0F129ED0-599B-44D2-9943-F4143DC1699C&Type=B_BASIC

 

 

            You and your family members are cordially invited to attend our annual Essex Rotary Changeover Barbeque.  For our newer members, this is a fun event at which we thank the current Board of Directors for their service and welcome the new Board of Directors. This year’s event will take place on Wednesday, June 20^th at Maple Street Park. The cost per person for this event is $20.00.  Please RSVP by e-mailing Trish Porter at trishp2013@gmail.com

 

 

 

            If you haven’t paid your 2018-2019 Rotary Dues yet, please do so immediately.  If, however, you do not intend to renew your membership, please let our Board of Directors know. Dues may be paid online, or in person, but they must be paid by June 29^th at the latest.  Any members who do not remit payment of their dues by that date will be dropped from our Club’s roster. 

 

 

            The next opportunities to volunteer will be on Monday, July 9th at 5:15pm; Thursday, July 26th at 6:15pm; Monday, August 13th at 5:15pm; Thursday, August 23rd at 3:30pm; Monday, September 10th at 5:15pm; and Thursday, September 27th at 3:30pm. Please let Sharon Dettenrieder know if you are able to fill any of these shifts.

 

Upcoming Meeting Schedule:  Wednesday, June 13, 2018 – Next week will be our annual Rotary Golf Tournament at the Links at Lang Farm.  This will be held in lieu of our regularly scheduled Rotary meeting that day.
