Meeting Recap

Greetings Rotarians!  Our speaker today was Michelle Beam, Assistant Director of the Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains.  Michelle provided a brief history of the Girl Scouts and some information on that organization’s mission.  The Girl Scouts strive to build the character and confidence of their participants through enriching programs and activities. Recently, the Girl Scouts have pushed hard to implement a focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) into their programs.  This is being done to address the alarmingly low number of young women who are entering these fields.  The Girl Scouts hope that by building confidence and interest in STEM-related activities, more young women will be encouraged to pursue studies and careers in these disciplines. To assist in this endeavor, the Girl Scouts have embarked on the 2016 Campaign for Girls, which is a fundraising effort to help provide the many opportunities that the Girl Scouts offer to young women from all backgrounds.  For more information on how you can help support this campaign, please visit the Girls Scouts of the Green and White Mountains website at www.girlscoutsgwm.org

Monthly Rotary Theme

The Rotary theme for the month of June is fellowship.  One of the key components of Rotary is the development of relationships between Rotarians and the people they encounter on a daily basis. While the charitable work we do as a Club is important, we should also remember that cultivating the friendships both inside and outside the parameters of our Club is also an important aspect of being a Rotarian.

Heavenly Pantry Food Shelf

The next volunteering opportunities at the Food Shelf will be on July 28th, August 25th and September 22nd.  Please let Sharon Dettenrieder know if you are interested in signing up for any of these shifts.

Upcoming Meeting Schedule:  June 29, 2016 – Our Changeover Picnic will be held at Maple Street Park at 6:00pm. This event will be held in lieu of our regularly scheduled meeting that week.
