Meeting Recap

Greetings fellow Rotarians!  Today we held our monthly charitable committee meetings.  While the end of the Rotary year may seem far away, it will be sneaking up on us before you know it.  With that in mind, each committee is reminded to work diligently on finding charitable endeavors to which they can donate their funds. Please note that all check requests should be delivered to Sharon Dettenrieder well before the end of this Rotary year.  We’ve already heard of some great projects that several of our committees have supported this year, but we’re eager to hear about more.
Vermont Rotary All-Star Hockey Classic
The 2016 Vermont Rotary All-Star Hockey Classic is officially in the books and we are pleased to report that it was once again, a huge success! Very large crowds were on hand to watch what turned out to be two of the most competitive All-Star games that have been played in years. The Austin Conference took the women’s game by a score of 3-2 and in the men’s game, the Harris squad scored a goal with 38 seconds left in the game to win that contest. The numbers are not yet final, but early reports indicate that our net revenue from this event will fall somewhere within the range of $9,000.00 (or more).  That amount is easily the highest profit this event has ever turned! Thank you to the many Rotarians and family members who worked at this event and who donated food to the concession stand. The success of this event would not have been possible without your help. Last, but not least, we owe a huge thank you to hockey committee members, Jeff Cabanaw, Damon Clark, Judy DeNova, Sharon Dettenrieder, Tylr Dunklow, Betty Poulin, and Kaitlyn Raymond.  Thanks to the hard work and tireless efforts they have been putting into this event since November, this was the most successful hockey classic ever!
Essex Rotary 50th Anniversary Dinner
A sign-up sheet is being passed around for our Club’s 50th Anniversary Dinner!  Please join past and present Essex Rotarians and their family members for an evening of celebration as we look back and reminisce about the past fifty years. This event will start at 5:30pm and end whenever The Essex runs out of booze (just kidding . . . maybe). Don’t miss out on what should be a fun and memorable evening!
Essex High School Community Service Dinner

We are looking for volunteers to help serve food and clean up at the Essex High School Community Service Dinner on April 7th beginning at 6:00pm.  This event will honor several high school students who have generously volunteered within the community. Please contact Amy Jackman if you would like to help out.

Upcoming Meeting Schedule:  March 30, 2016 – As one fundraiser ends, another begins.  Dave Johnson will be proceeding over the formal kick-off for the 2016 Essex Rotary Golf Tournament!
