Meeting Recap

Greetings Rotarians!  Today we held our monthly charitable committee meetings. By all accounts, each committee is busily working towards the Club’s goal of distributing all of the money we have raised through our various fundraisers to worthwhile causes and recipients.  Just as a reminder, the fiscal Rotary year ends on June 30th, so each committee chair should get his or respective check requests to Kristin Winer well before that date.

Essex Rotary Key Bank All-Star Hockey Classic

The Essex Rotary Key Bank All-Star Hockey Classic is now officially in the books!  Close to 500 people were on hand to witness the Harris women defeat the Austin women by a score of 6-3 and the Austin men edge out the Harris men by a score of 4-3. This was easily one of the smoothest flowing hockey classics our Club has ever put on and we have the hard work of all of our volunteers to thank for that.  Each and every Rotarian, friend and family member who pitched in on Saturday went well above and beyond the call of duty to make sure this year’s event was a success.  Based on the feedback from many of the players, the coaches and the parents, this was a highly enjoyable experience for all involved.  I am also pleased to report that our net profit from this event will exceed what we brought in last year by roughly $1,500.00!  That means we will have that much more to give away to charities next year. Thank you very much to the Rotarians who graciously took time out of their busy schedules to volunteer at this event and to donate baked goods to our concession stand.  A special thank you goes out to committee members Jeff Cabanaw, Damon Clark, Betty Poulin and Kaitlyn Raymond who, since November, have worked very hard on planning this event.  Without their efforts, this event would not have been the success that it was.

Volunteer Opportunities

We are still looking for a few volunteers to help serve food and clean up at the Essex High School service recognition dinner on Thursday, April 9th. This is a great event at which Essex High School students are recognized for their community service efforts. Please contact Amy Jackman if you would like to help out at this event.

Upcoming Meeting Schedule:  Wednesday, April 1, 2015 – No meeting as the Rotary Club of Essex is being disbanded effective immediately and replaced with an underground fight club . . . APRIL FOOLS!  Next week we will officially kick-off the drive for the 2015 Essex Rotary Golf Tournament.  This is our Club’s biggest fundraiser and we need everyone to pitch in and help out between now and June!
