Meeting Recap

Greetings Rotarians!  We started the meeting with a talk from fellow Essex Rotarian, Sharon Dettenrieder.  Sharon told us about her recent humanitarian trip to Jamaica. While there, Sharon helped mentor nurses in some of the poorer parts of the country.  Sharon’s good work is yet another example of a Rotarian who exemplifies the motto of “Service Above Self”.  Sharon’s talk was followed by our monthly charitable committee meetings.  All committees are reminded to get in their requests well before the end of the fiscal Rotary year in June.

Essex Rotary Key Bank All-Star Hockey Classic

We are getting closer to filling the volunteer slots for this event!  I am pleased to report that we have filled all of the spots for the women’s game.  There are still five spots left to fill for the men’s game, however. We need one more ticket/50-50 cashier; two more people to work at the concession stand; one person to work at the Rotary information table; and one more person to help with post-event cleanup.  It is really important that we fill all of the slots for this event!!! The sign-up sheet can be found on our website, or you can sign up at our meetings.  As of right now, a number of Rotarians have graciously volunteered to donate baked goods to the concession stand and we have a number of local businesses that will be donating pizzas, hot dogs and drinks as well.

District Conference

All Rotarians are encouraged to attend the next District Conference that will be held on March 28, 2015 at the Lyndon Institute.  President-Elect, Nancy Freeze will be attending and would be happy to car-pool with any Rotarians who are interested in attending.  This is a great educational opportunity for newer Rotarians, or for Rotarians who are interested in leadership positions at either the Club or District level.  Please contact Nancy Freeze if you would like to join her at this conference.

Williston-Richmond Rotary Ski Challenge

The Williston-Richmond Rotary Club will be hosting its annual ski challenge fundraiser at Bolton Valley on Friday, March 13th.  Registration for this event begins at 3:00 pm; racing begins at 5:30 pm; dinner is served at 6:30; and the awards ceremony starts at 7:30. Please contact President Phil if you are interested in participating in what should be a fun afternoon and evening of skiing at Bolton Valley!

Upcoming Meeting Schedule:  Wednesday, March 4, 2015 – Our speaker will be Ken Puzey from the Albert and Vivian Puzey Foundation.
