Meeting Recap

Greetings Rotarians! We started today’s meeting off with a classification talk from recently inducted member, Jim Olsen.  Jim’s was first exposed to Rotary by his uncle who was an active Rotarian in Albany, New York.  Jim followed a career in publishing that took him to Seattle, Washington and to Saratoga Springs, NY.  While in Seattle, Jim encountered a Rotary Club that boasted 750 members! It was then that he realized that he wanted to be a part of a smaller Club in which he could feel more connected with his fellow members.  After he and his wife moved to Westford to be closer to his grandchildren, Jim discovered our Club, and the rest was history.  Thank you to Jim for letting us get to know you a bit better.  The rest of the meeting was dedicated to our charitable committees.  As we will not have any committee meetings for the months of November and December, each committee is strongly encouraged to communicate outside of our weekly meetings to determine the manners in which to spend our charitable funds.

Upcoming Rotary Service Projects

It is time to start marking your calendars for some of our annual service projects!  We will join the Knight of Columbus in putting on the annual Senior Holiday Luncheon at the Champlain Valley Exposition on December 3rd.  We ask that you please arrive at the Expo by 11:15am to assist in putting together goodie bags for the seniors and to help serve food.  We will also need items to be placed in goodie bags.  Any trinkets, books or small promotional items are welcome!  Please contact Diana Ferguson at Diana@essexchips.org for more information about this event.  We will also assist the Salvation Army as bell-ringers on Friday, December 12th and Saturday, December 13th in front of Essex Discount Beverage and the Essex Price Chopper.  A sign-up sheet for this event will be circulated shortly.

Upcoming Meeting Schedule:  Wednesday, November 5, 2014 – Our speaker will be Chris Howell from Vermont Farm Tours.
